The American Friends of Whistler is a U.S. registered 501(c)(3) non–profit organization incorporated in Washington State. We seek to raise and distribute funds for health and human services, culture and the arts, and environmental protection in Whistler. We endeavor to enhance the community, benefit the population and foster greater understanding and friendship between the Canadian and American people.
To date, the American Friends of Whistler has granted more than $1.1 million to the Whistler community, including:
- Whistler Adaptive Sports Program
For new Welcome and Equipment Centre at Whistler Blackcomb.
- Whistler Health Care Foundation
For equipment to improve health and welfare of residents and visitors.
- Maurice Young Millennium Place
For contributions to arts and culture in Whistler.
- Get Bear Smart Society
For educational programs on bear awareness and safety.
- Whistler Community Services
In support of the Food Bank and the Counseling and Assistance Fund.
- Whistler Fisheries Stewardship Group
Commitment for River of Golden Dreams reclamation project.
- Whistler Public Library
To purchase materials for the Children’s Collection and provide funding for the library’s Teen Room.
- Community Foundation of Whistler
Commitment towards a permanent endowment fund for Whistler corridor community and a grant to the Whistler Arts and Culture Legacy Fund.
- Whistler Search & Rescue Society
For the purchase of their first dedicated rescue vehicle.
- Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre
For the purchase of artisan–carved and painted main entrance doors.
- Sea to Sky Trail
For directional and interpretive signage along the trail.
- Whistler Museum and Archives Society
For design and fabrication of new exhibit celebrating Whistler’s Olympic Journey.
- Whistler Sailing Association
For junior training in sailing and water safety
- Whistler Walk Safe Program
For jacket reflectors promoting pedestrian safety
